Bibi's Besan
Where Quality Meets Tradition
Besan, also known as gram flour, has a long history that traces back thousands of years to ancient India, where chickpeas were one of the staple crops. Made by grinding dried chickpeas (typically the smaller, desi variety), besan became widely used in Indian cuisine and beyond due to its versatility, nutritional value, and rich flavor.
Origins and Early Use:
Chickpeas were cultivated in the Middle East and parts of the Mediterranean over 7,000 years ago. As the crop spread to India, where it found favorable growing conditions, it became central to the regional diet. In India, besan has been used for centuries in both culinary and non-culinary applications.
At Bibi's Besan, our mission is to create delicious sweet treats that inspire and nourish our customers. We believe that traditional sweets that are passed down over centuries should be accessible to everyone and enjoyed in this day and age, like our Bibis and families did
